  Unprecedented expansion of hotels, with 639 new hotels opening during the year (69,030 rooms), through organic growth (179 hotels, 19,161 rooms) as well as by acquisitions (460 hotels, 49,869 rooms), the main acquisitions being:
- Red Roof Inns in the United States (322 hotels, 37,005 rooms),
- Good Morning Hotels (21 hotels) in Scandinavia,
- Frantour (31 hotels, tour operators, travel agencies),
- the Vivendi hotel business (52 hotels),
- 27 hotels in Germany,
- 27 hotels in Australia.
  Disposal of the 50% interest in Europcar to Volkswagen.
In parallel with this disposal, Accor has signed a long-term
partnership with Europcar for the maintenance and development
of reciprocal synergies.
 
  Accor demonstrates its support for the Olympic movement by
becoming an official partner to France’s National Olympic Sports Committee (CNOSF).
 
  Partnership with Eurotunnel for the construction of three hotels at
the French terminal of the Channel Tunnel.
