On January 31, 1999, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Kofi A. Annan, the Secretary General of the UN, challenged the world’s economic leaders to embrace and prescribe” the Global Compact both in their individual business practices and by supporting appropriate policies.

Accor signed the Global Compact and promised to comply with its 10 principles. These principles cover subjects relating to human rights and the environnent.
