Accor and Nausicaà, the National Sea Centre in Boulogne-sur-mer,
signed a new partnership agreement in May 2003
to protect the coastline and seabed.
The initial partnership in 1999 was aimed at generating
awareness about the marine environment among customers at Accor hotels
in the Red Sea region. Today, a range of activities enables customers
to explore this environment and become involved in protecting it.
The Sofitel Hurghada in Egypt was selected as a
pilot site, before extending the partnership as of June 2004 to other
Accor hotels on the Red Sea.
The activities introduced include workshops for
children, a guided aquatic tour with commentary and a weekly “Sea
Day” offering a combination of activities, documentary films and
thematic games. Guests also have access to the “Red Sea Corner”,
an area providing information and documentation on the sea, which was
the first joint activity sponsored by Accor-Nausicaà.
