Water and energy
ref. to the annual report for consumption indicators and reduction objectives

Using solar energy

Since 1998, Accor launched a programme of study, together with the Technical Department, on the use of solar energy to produce hot water for hotel bathrooms. The project concerned metropolitan France, the French West Indies, Polynesia, Spain, Morocco and Brasil. 41 hotels are fitted with a total of 3, 360 square meters of solar heating energy panels to produce domestic water, thus generating overall energy savings of 1,332 20MWh. Photovoltaic collectors were installed on the Ibis Porte de Clichy in Paris.

In France and North Africa, solar panel development has been pursued in partnership with ADEME (Agency for the Environment and Energy Resources). Between 40% and 60% of hot water needs for bathroom facilities are now covered by solar energy in the hotels concerned.
