Environmental certifications
Certification programs strengthen the credibility of Accor’s commitment.
The Group has initiated certification programs to improve the environmental performance of its facilities. Independent auditors guarantee the relevance and earnestness of this process.- These programs help to establish ongoing improvement processes.
The commitment to these programs generates a demand for ongoing improvement, which pushes the hotels to find innovations to reduce their environmental footprint.
Accor 2010 objectives
1 - Obtain environmental certification in 20% of Accor hotels.
2009 year-end indicator: 10% of Accor hotels obtained an environmental certification.
Achievements
In June 2010, Accor had:
- 331 ISO 14001-certified hotels: 304 ibis hotels in 17 countries, 9 Thalassa sea & spa sites in France, the Sofitel Athens Airport in Greece, the Novotel London West in the United Kingdom, the Novotel and ibis Olympic Park in Australia and 1 ISO 14001-certified restaurant for Lenôtre: the Pré Catelan restaurant.
- 56 Green Globe-certified Novotel hotels in 15 countries.
- 13 hotels have been Green Key Eco-Rated by the Hotel Association of Canada.
