Food

Chronic diseases (cancer, diabetes, etc.) are the leading cause of death in the world.
Along with physical activity, a balanced diet is one of the leading ways to protect against these diseases. Accor is therefore mobilizing its restaurant network to promote good habits among the public.

In 10 years, the World Health Organization predicts that another 500 million people will be overweight.
Extra weight contributes to chronic diseases like diabetes and cardio-vascular disease. Accor is therefore working with nutritionists to offer its guests healthy and well-balanced meals.

Achievements

Since 2005, Accor Services has led the "Nutrition & Balance" program with its mascot Gustino.
At the end of 2008, 12 countries  had deployed this program developed with expert nutritionists. It makes customers holding food vouchers (Ticket Restaurant®, Ticket Alimentación) aware of the rules for a varied and balanced diet.
In France, for example, over 1400 restaurants are committed to the program.

Early in 2009, Accor Services launched the FOOD (Fighting Obesity through Offer and Demand) project with the European Commission. On the basis of the "Nutrition & Balance" program successfully launched in France in 2005, Accor Services and its partners will implement a series of measures to promote a balanced diet among employees and restaurant operators in six European countries.

The "Nutrition & Balance" offer today is offered in the Accor hotels of 14 countries.
All the Novotel France hotels have signed the "Forme & Equilibre" commitment charter created by the brand. In addition, Novotel has deployed in all its hotels a meal offer for children under age 12 in connection with the Nutrition & Balance program.
